Things to do in Mossleigh Alberta: Aspen Crossing
Mossleigh is located in Vulcan County, about 63 kilometres (39 miles) southeast of Calgary, on Highway 24. The popular Polar Express in Aspen Crossing pulls a lot of tourists to Mossleigh, but you can visit this southern Alberta hamlet at any time of year for a quick getaway from Calgary.

Aspen Crossing Attractions
Aspen Crossing is home to unique train excursions, from ‘winter rides, Halloween treats to fun brunches’ – there are endless choices for couples to the entire family.
Aspen Crossing started decades ago in a small area, and its pulse is the Canadian Railway aka the trains! These trains take you through the Prairie land, whilst you enjoy comfortably, sipping and eating your heart out!

Aspen Crossing also organizes events, including the Southern Alberta Music Festival!
Camping at Aspen Crossing
When there are no trains running, you can still visit Aspen Crossing for a nice day out or for overnight camping.
Aspen Crossing has an RV campground which is open for reservations. Each site is equipped with modern amenities from showers, flush toilets, and sani-dump stations.
You can also book sites for group camping, and there are playgrounds for kids to enjoy as well. These are fully serviced sites with helpful and friendly staff on-site.
Stay in Caboose Cabins
Do not fancy an RV campsite? Choose the Caboose Cabins instead for an amazing train experience. You can choose between a Union Pacific (affordable), Canadian Pacific (mid-budget), or Northern Alberta train cabin for an overnight stay.
Caboose Cabins are set up with all of the modern amenities, just like a hotel, and offer a nice oasis for a weekend getaway.
Right outside the cabin, there is tons of natural space, trees, and of course Aspen Crossing itself for you to enjoy. Each cabin has a lounging area and a deck for use. You can check availability here
Diefenbaker Dining Car experience
When in Aspen Crossing you can also enjoy dining in a historic 1887 Pullman car – this makes for an amazing romantic date experience!
The Bergquist – tavern
The Bergquist is located at the Aspen Crossing complex. You can visit here for delicious food like house-made pizzas to 75 cent wings. It is a nice place for dinner or lunch while you are on a day trip to Mossleigh.

Mossleigh is known for vintage grain elevators or silos. There are three-grain elevators in Mossleigh, and they make for a nice photo spot in the countryside.
As you drive along, you will also find modern grain silos. Note that in many properties trespassing is not allowed.
Enjoy the road trip
Road tripping from Calgary to Mossleigh is also a nice break away from the hustle-bustle of day-to-day life. There are endless fields, and flatlands as you drive through.
If you prefer a stop, then Wyndham-Carseland Provincial Park is a scenic spot. The park is beautiful with the Bow River on both shores!
